An indictment charging a group of individuals the United States Attorney's office called '13 of the highest-ranking MS-13 leaders in the world,' was unsealed Thursday in federal court in Central Islip. The four-count indictment charges the defendants, three of whom are already in U.S. custody, with racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to provide or conceal material support to terrorists and narco-terrorism conspiracy. Four defendants are additionally charged with alien smuggling. 'Today's action makes clear that there is no hiding place, anywhere in the world, for the leaders of violent gangs that terrorize American communities,' Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.
